David was a man after God's own heart, but he also struggled with lust. In 2 Samuel 11, we see David lusting after Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. He sleeps with her, which leads to her becoming pregnant. To cover up his sin, David sends Uriah to the front lines of battle, where he is killed.

David's actions were not only a violation of God's commandments but also caused harm to others. However, despite his sin, David repented and turned back to God. In Psalm 51, David writes:

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."
